British songstress Jessie J is back with soul and power in her second album, Sweet Talker. It has been a few years since J has released music, and the time seems to have served her well. The album features fun collaborations with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, 2 Chainz and violinist Lindsey Stirling.
If you haven’t heard of Timeflies yet, you will soon. The duo, comprised of vocalist Cal Shapiro and Rob “Rez” Resnick, was featured as an MTV Artist to Watch in 2013. The group does not have an easily defined style; they are the perfect combination of pop, hip hop and electronic. They formed Timeflies in 2010 while they were still in college. They started making videos every Tuesday, appropriately called Timeflies Tuesday, in which they covered or free styled popular songs. Along the way, they have released original music in the form of several EPs and two full albums. This fall, they are on tour in honor of their latest album, After Hours.
There is a talented new artist from Sweden who is already taking over United States’ pop charts. Tove Lo, whose real name is Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, is a Swedish singer-songwriter who is here to make her mark. Tove Lo released her debut EP titled “Truth Serum” earlier this year, and on Sept. 30 she released her first full- length album called “Queen Of The Clouds.” With a title like that, it is guaranteed to be a lot of fun.
Vance Joy isn’t quite a well-known name yet, but he is certainly on his way. Joy, whose real name is James Keogh, is an Australian singer-songwriter who is starting to make a name for himself in the United States. Prior to his start in music, Joy was pursuing a law degree. But his career in law has recently taken a turn to focus on Joy’s biggest passion, creating music.
